Activities Calendar
Here’s our schedule showcasing all the external entertainers and planned outings. Following that, you’ll find a sample calendar featuring additional in-house activities organized by the team, complementing the main calendar below.
Philosophy
It is our philosophy that keeping people with dementia occupied and stimulated improves their quality of life, this approach is at the heart of all we do and is undertaken through a range of fun and exciting activities. We believe supporting people to engage in this philosophy makes the individual feel valued, enhances the sense of dignity and self-esteem by giving purpose and meaning to their life and promotes feelings of happiness which helps the service user relax, increases their sense of well-being.
“The family are always made to feel welcome and even our children like coming to visit Grandma. HP regularly organises family events and these are always a treat, we see first-hand how good the care is and how well our family members are being looked after. What an amazing place!”
Active for life
Improving fitness through regular exercise helps develop a healthy appetite, increases energy levels and promotes a better night’s sleep.
We encourage and provide opportunities for people to be more active through participation in activities of daily living, for example, helping with gardening, sweeping paths, turning soil, lawn mowing, vacuuming, dusting, washing up, baking and cooking.
Many of our group activities encourage movement and exercise but we also work with each person to plan individual activities that they want to do both within the home and in the local and wider community.
“Where else in Kent would you find dementia residents having nail vanish applied to their hands and feet, their hair done and stimulated with activities every week?”
Finding suitable activities
Our individualised programme of activities focus on the structure of time appropriate to the person and their cognitive impairment but reflects their interests and when their dementia progresses, we develop imaginative ways to adapt service users preferred activities to their changing capabilities and moods.
We constantly encourage a person to try ‘new’ activities which will often bring about a sense of excitement and gratification.
“Hale Place more than exceeded our expectations in restoring Mum’s dignity and zest for life. We will be forever indebted for this and the prolonged life filled with fun and laughter that it inspired.”
